Setting Up Your Own Bot Server
File:
UT Mutator Zip
This UnrealTournament Mutator is based on the fantastic work at http://www.planetunreal.com/gamebots/
It has been changed and adapted to be able to work with the C# Framework we have developed.
Note:
These files are not required to connect to a UT RemoteBot server that is already running. You only need these if you want to make your very own server
You should have Unreal Tournament installed if you want to run your own server.
This zip file contains the files you need if you want to start your very own UT RemoteBot server.
It contains the following files:
1)
Readme.txt
2)
UTServer.bat
- A windows batch file which will automatically start up a dedicated UT server running the RemoteBot mutator. You may need to edit the batch file and replace "C:\UnrealTournament" with the actual location of your UT installation.
3)
Copy Into UT Folder
- Folder containing the folders that you should copy directly into your Unreal Tournament Installation directory to install the mutator Help - A folder containing a Readme file for the original mutator which can be obtained from http://www.planetunreal.com/gamebots/ System - A folder containing the actual mutator files which should be put into your UnrealTournament\System folder
Installation
To install the Mutator simply follow these instructions: Unzip and copy the Help and System folders into your UnrealTournament installation directory.
Setting up a server
1) Once you have the files installed, start up Unreal Tournament.
2) Pull up the dialog to start a new multiplayer game.
3) For gametype select "RemoteBot Deathmatch"
4) Under the bots tab while setting up the game you can specify a skill level and minimum number of bots. Normal UT bots will fill the game to the number you specify.
5) As you add your own bots, UT ones will quit the game.
6) The skill setting affects gamebots much like the built in bots. Lower skill = worse aim and slower movement.
7) When you are done configuring, start it up. (You are advised to start a dedicated server and then connect to it by starting up UT again when you're ready to watch your bot)
8) Only after the game has started can you connect external bots.
